Fourth-grader Katie is concerned when an older girl uses live mice in a science fair project, but when Katie turns into the sixth-grader and has to run the experiment herself, she has a different opinion of the student.
"This is the prettiest lightning bug ever!" Katie Carew exclaimed. She looked down at the papier- mache insect she and her friend Emma Weber had built and smiled proudly.
"I think so, too," Emma agreed. She sprinkled some glitter on one of the bug's wings.
"Wait until everybody sees our finishing touch," Katie added with a grin. She held up a small pocket flashlight and tucked it into a little hole in the back of the bug. "Now our lightning bug can really glow!" Katie made the light flicker on and off. It looked just like a real lightning bug.
Everyone at Cherrydale Elementary is excited about the school science fair. But when Katie finds out that Selena, a sixth-grader, is using mice in her project, she gets really upset. Mice don't belong in science experiments! Katie sets out to teach Selena to be nice to mice, but things get tricky when Katie turns into Selena during the science fair! Can Katie save the mice without ruining Selena's project?
